BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas — Brazoria County residents could see several rounds of rain and thunderstorms this week as unsettled weather moves across Southeast Texas.
The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston office said showers and thunderstorms are expected to move through the region Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, with locally heavy rainfall possible. Forecasters said some areas could see 1 to 3 inches of rain, with localized flooding possible where heavier storms develop.
The wet pattern is expected to continue later in the week. The weather service said additional rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall are possible starting Thursday, with repeated rainfall increasing the chance for runoff and rising water in low-lying areas.
For Brazoria County, the forecast shows storm chances lasting through the weekend and into Memorial Day. Wednesday and Thursday carry the potential for heavier thunderstorms, while Friday and Saturday could bring more rain that may impact outdoor plans and travel.
Drivers should use caution during heavy downpours, especially in areas where water tends to collect on roads. Residents are urged not to drive through flooded streets and to give themselves extra time if storms move through during the morning or evening commute.
The forecast also comes as families prepare for graduation events, weekend plans and Memorial Day travel across the Gulf Coast area. Outdoor events could be affected if storms develop over the same areas repeatedly.
Beachgoers should also stay alert. The weather service listed a high rip-current risk for Gulf-facing beaches, meaning swimming conditions could be dangerous even when storms are not directly overhead.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and weather alerts throughout the week as conditions may change quickly.
