A free family event in Angleton will give Brazoria County residents a chance to experience cowboy history this Saturday.
The Brazoria County Historical Museum will host Cowboy Up! from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at 100 East Cedar Street in Angleton.
The event is open to the public and does not require an admission fee.
Cowboy Up! will feature activities connected to traditional cowboy life, including roping, branding and chuck wagon cooking, according to the county announcement.
The museum is also planning children's crafts and interactive activities aimed at helping younger visitors connect with Texas history in a hands-on way.
This year's event will also honor Jack Taylor, a museum volunteer remembered for sharing his knowledge of branding and cowboy heritage with visitors.
Taylor was especially known for working with children and helping pass those traditions to younger generations.
The museum said the event is part of its effort to keep local and Texas history accessible to families.
Residents who attend can expect a mix of demonstrations, family activities and historical education centered on cowboy culture.
