ANGLETON, Texas — Angleton ISD trustees approved new technology and safety-related upgrades during the district’s April board meeting, including a major Chromebook refresh for Angleton High School and an intercom system upgrade at Angleton Junior High.

According to a district recap posted April 24, trustees approved a $1.07 million Chromebook refresh for Angleton High School and a $105,433 intercom system upgrade at Angleton Junior High. The district said the investments are part of continued work to support campus safety, communication and student learning.

The Chromebook refresh is expected to support students and staff at the high school by replacing or updating devices used for daily instruction, assignments, testing and digital learning. As technology becomes a larger part of classroom work, school districts often face the challenge of keeping devices updated, reliable and available to students.

The intercom system upgrade at Angleton Junior High is tied more directly to communication and campus safety. Intercom systems play an important role in school operations, allowing campuses to make announcements, issue emergency alerts and communicate quickly across buildings.

Angleton ISD said the April meeting also included recognition of student success in academics, fine arts, athletics and career programs. The district said trustees reviewed updates related to student safety and well-being, as well as steps connected to state transportation requirements.

The approved spending comes at a time when many school districts are balancing classroom technology needs with growing expectations around campus security. For parents, the updates may raise important questions about how local schools are preparing students for digital learning while also improving safety systems on campus.

The district described the actions as part of its continued investment in students and schools.
