SWEENY, Texas — Sweeny Pride Day brought a steady crowd to Backyard Park on Saturday as residents, vendors and families gathered for a full day of community activities.

Gulf Coast Times attended the event from about 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and observed steady foot traffic throughout the day.

The event, organized by Sweeny Beautification, featured a mix of food vendors, craft booths, small businesses and community booths spread throughout the park.

A cookoff was also part of the day’s activities, adding another draw for residents and visitors.

Families could be seen walking through the vendor area, stopping at booths and spending time around the park as the event continued through the afternoon.

The atmosphere was busy but family-friendly, with the event centered around community involvement and local participation.

Sweeny Pride Day also included a parade, giving the community another reason to gather and take part in the annual celebration.

Events like Pride Day give local vendors, small businesses and community groups a chance to connect directly with residents while also giving families a place to spend time together close to home.

For Sweeny, the day served as both a local tradition and a community gathering, bringing people together through food, vendors, crafts, a parade and outdoor activities at Backyard Park.
