Xtreme Hummingbird Xtavaganza

Time: 8:00 AM

Location: Gulf Coast Bird Observatory

Cost: $5 adults, kids 12 & under free

XHX is a yearly event at GCBO that takes place during the peak of Ruby-throated Hummingbird migration in the fall. It features symbolic hummingbird adoptions and live hummingbird banding where you get the opportunity to see these amazing birds up close and in the hand! There will be educational booths, activities for kids, plant sale, and our nature store. Tickets are $5 for adults and children 12 and under get in for free!

Rumor has it that the seniors know how to cook! Now is your time to show off those skills. This event allows us to gather for a good meal and enjoy sweet fellowship. Come with an empty belly and full hands by bringing your favorite dish to participate.

6th Annual Gala: Beauty from Ashes

Refuge for Women Texas Gulf Coast will host its 6th Annual Gala, Beauty From Ashes, on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Dow Academic Center at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson.

This annual fundraising event brings together community members, businesses, and supporters to help provide hope and healing to women who have escaped human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Guests will enjoy dinner, a fundraising raffle, inspiring stories, and an evening celebrating lives transformed through Refuge for Women’s long-term residential program.

Proceeds from the gala directly support survivors in the Texas Gulf Coast program, which provides safe housing, trauma-informed care, life skills, and comprehensive support to residents completely free of charge for a multi-year continuum of care.
