BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas — Several communities across Brazoria County are preparing to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, family activities, live music and local gatherings.
Some events begin before July 4, while others are scheduled directly on Independence Day. Residents planning to attend should check with event organizers or city pages before heading out, especially if weather affects outdoor activities.
Here are some Fourth of July-related events happening around Brazoria County.
Angleton Freedom Fireworks
The City of Angleton’s Freedom Fireworks is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, at the Brazoria County Fairgrounds.
The fireworks display is set for 9:20 p.m. Officials say those viewing from the fairgrounds must be parked by 9 p.m., when gates are expected to close for the safety of viewers.
The event is free to attend.
Lake Jackson Liberty on the Plaza
Lake Jackson’s Liberty on the Plaza is scheduled for July 4 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Doris Williams Civic Center.
The event includes free family activities, including bounce houses, water slides, a foam cannon, mechanical bull, mini golf, zipline, dancing, lawn games and more.
The city also lists a free concert featuring Birmingham Revival, a Tracy Lawrence tribute band, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the Veterans Memorial Plaza at the Doris Williams Civic Center.
Fireworks are scheduled for 9 p.m. at Dunbar Park, with viewing at the Doris Williams Civic Center. Food trucks are expected to be on site, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and beverages.
The city notes that fireworks are illegal to possess or use within Lake Jackson city limits.
Sweeny Fourth of July Celebration
Sweeny’s Fourth of July Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sweeny Backyard Park, located at 1401 N. Main Street/FM 524 behind City Hall.
The event is expected to include contests, tournaments, games, music and fireworks. A live band is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and fireworks are expected to conclude the event at dark.

West Columbia July 4 Events
